Policies
1. The scattering of ashes is not permitted. Cremains must be buried in a purchased grave space.
2. Burial equipment such as tents, tarps, grass, chairs, lowering devices, etc., is not provided by the cemetery.
3. Funeral traffic should enter the cemetery at the north gate from CR-P37 and exit through the main gate at the intersection of CR 34/37 & CR-P37.
4. Funeral vehicles should park in the east section of the cemetery or on the road. Parking is not permitted on the lawn in the west part of the cemetery.
5. The family of the deceased is required to mark all graves with the deceased name and dates of birth and death.
6. The family of the deceased is required to mark the grave with a marker of approved material within one (1) year of burial.
7. The family of the deceased (or its assigns) must contact the Cemetery Sexton before the setting of a memorial stone.
8. Homemade memorial stones are not permitted.
9. No wooden, stone, or cast iron bench or chair, or any wooden or wire trellis is permitted. Such structures are placed only at the pleasure of the ALLEN CEMETERY ASSOCIATION.
10. Flowers should be placed on or near the headstone in a non-breakable receptacle, or in a permanent vase.
11. Trinkets or whatnots are discouraged. Any items left at a grave two weeks after burial may be considered abandoned and removed by cemetery personnel. The cemetery is not responsible for damaged or stolen floral pieces or other decorations.
12. Flagpoles are prohibited, however a small flag may be placed near the head of the grave. The cemetery staff will remove flags and properly dispose of them if the flags are so worn that they are no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country.
13. The lot owner shall submit a request to plant a shrub(s) to the Cemetery Sexton. The request shall state the type(s) of shrub and location it is to be planted.
14. The care and maintenance of all plantings are the sole responsibility of the lot owner or the person doing the planting.
15. Cemetery personnel reserve the right to trim, remove and/or dispose of a shrub(s) should it interfere with mowing, maintenance, die, or become unsightly.
16. Topsoil will be added after the graves have settled and the site seeded after settlement is complete. Sod will be added if necessary.
17. The lot owner is asked to notify the Cemetery Sexton of unwanted grave spaces.
18. Only the ALLEN CEMETERY ASSOCIATION may sell or transfer grave spaces.
19. All unwanted grave spaces shall revert back to the ALLEN CEMETERY ASSOCIATION by Certificate of Transfer.
20. The Cemetery Sexton, in conjunction with the interment committee, shall determine the availability of lots or graves spaces.
21. Every effort will be made by the ALLEN CEMETERY ASSOCIATION to provide lot owners with a copy of the current rules and regulations.
