Sarah Allen

Sarah Elizabeth Allen was born in Edgar County, Illinois, Feb. 28, 1843, to John M. and Mary (Camerer) Allen. She came to Washington County with her parents in 1856. Sarah married William. E. Swihart, whose family were early settlers of Washington County as well. They had eight children: Charles, Pearl, John, Jessie, Mark, and Grace lived to adulthood, whereas Mary and Nathaniel died in childhood. Sarah died in 1903 on what would have been her 60th birthday. William died November 13, 1922. They are buried in the Kennard.
