Martha Allen

Martha Catherine Allen was born October 30, 1853, in Edgar County, Illinois, the youngest child of John and Mary (Camerer) Allen. She came with her parents to Washington County, Nebraska, in 1856.

Martha died tragically in an accident on May 6, 1876, at the age of twenty-two. Family lore is that she fell off a wagon onto a pitchfork. She was laid to rest at the top of the hill near her home. Hers was the first recorded burial in the Allen Cemetery.
