Clinton Allen

Clinton was born in July 6, 1830, in Lee County, Virginia, the youngest child born to John and Martha (Clark) Allen. As a small child he moved with parents and siblings from their Virginia home to Edgar County, Illinois.

Clinton left his Illinois home in the mid 1850s, to join his brothers in Nebraska Territory. He purchased bounty land described as the 160 acres NE ¼, Twp 17N, R12E in Section 27 near the old Mormon Trail route in southern Washington County. He farmed there for a number of years before moving to Nodaway County, Missouri, where his mother and other relatives were living. Census records of 1860, show Clinton with his mother, Martha, and nephew, John, son of his deceased brother Charles. Clint never married, but raised John as his own.

He died at the home of his nephew in Ravenwood, Missouri, and was buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Nodaway County. He was a member of Missouri Home Guards during the Civil War serving in Company I, 48th Missouri Infantry and was an active member of the GAR. Clint died September 11, 1917, the youngest and the last of his siblings to depart this earth.
